Can Magic Mushrooms Be Transported Legally on a Plane?
Since magic mushrooms are not legal to use or transport in most places, their status of legality is the same when you’re on an airplane. Whether you’re flying from California to Colorado or from Hawaii to New York, transporting magic mushrooms on a plane can land you in some serious trouble.
While some places have decriminalized the use of magic mushrooms, on US soil these areas are few and far between. Policy changes are underway in a few states, but legal experts say that they’re not likely to pass just yet. Chances are we’re looking at at least a few more years before psilocybe cubensis mushrooms start getting the kind of attention that marijuana has during the 2010s.
The main issue is that, even if you do aim to carry mushrooms from a place where it’s legal to another place where it’s also legal, airport security could still catch you and have you arrested for doing so. That is because of the current laws on smuggling and the fact that magic mushrooms and psilocybin are considered a class A drug.
The safest way to ensure that you can have your own magic mushrooms when traveling or moving to an area where it’s legal is to buy or grow them there. Contaminant free microscopic mushroom spores and mushroom spore syringes are legal to travel with, since the spores don’t contain any psilocybin substance. As a result, while it’s still recommended that you check on their legal status in the areas you’re traveling to, you generally shouldn’t run into any difficulty with them.
